Ten Facts About the History of FICO

A three digit number that tells the story of your past and holds the potential of your future? Nope, it’s not your weight or your cholesterol. Don’t Play Golf with Your Moms Clubs

Posted by Renee Harvey on Apr 21, 2011 8:18:00 AM

Post by Matt Harris

I first started playing golf in elementary school.  I told my father I wanted to play and asked if he would teach me.  Being the smart parent he was, he didn’t immediately go invest in a brand new set of clubs for me.  Instead he dug out my mother’s old clubs and we headed to the driving range.

Takeaways from the 2011 Mortgage Banker Tech Conference

Posted by Renee Harvey on Apr 6, 2011 4:30:00 PM

Post by Don Kracl

Last week, Doug Foral, VP of Sales here at Mortech, and I attended the MBA Tech Conference in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. We were treated to a wonderful Dinner Cruise down the Inter Coastal Waterway (and a delicious meal) by pending integration partner, Motivity Solutions. In addition, we spent time with Sam of Bullseye (another partner) and John Ohman of FlatIrons Capital Management.

Other than the fact that I like these guys and I think they have a lot to offer our customers, why mention them in our blog? Synergy!  [Syn-er-gy] 1. Also called: the potential ability of individual organizations or groups to be more successful or productive as a result of a merger.

Sure online leads present several opportunities: more volume, faster contact rates, increased conversions, etc. However, online leads don’t (at least not yet) constitute the majority of the leads available to mortgage lenders, nor do they constitute the vast majority of leads that our customers work. Most leads or inquiries come from our traditional marketing efforts. These are leads that are generated using established channel

s such as newspaper ads, customer referrals, realtor relationships, advertising and word of mouth.

Post by Bill Yeager, RealXReferral

Can you believe it’s already March, and spring is just around the corner? Hard to imagine based on the frigid weather we've seen the past couple weeks. Spring means home buying season and big changes are approaching. The Mortgage Bankers Association predicts that Refinance mortgages will make up just 41% of the Origination $$ volume in 2011 compared to 69% in 2010. And, Origination total $$ volume will be just $1.05 Trillion down from a projected $1.8 Trillion according to Freddie Mac. So, Purchase mortgages will be the place to be for 2011. And Mortech is ready to SPRING you ahead of the competition.

So you’re convinced - you’re going to start taking Internet Leads. Great! As you know there’s a slew of providers out there: LendingTree, LowerMyBills, Google, Zillow, just to name a few. They’re all great sources, no doubt about it. The lead is only the first baby step in turning this opportunity into dollars for your bottom line.

Many times we see a company get into the Online Lending space with high hopes and great expectations, only to see those hopes and dreams turn into a Dust Bowl tragedy! How can you avoid that? What can be done to ensure your efforts, reputation and financial risk are rewarded?

You’ve finally been convinced to look at Internet Leads. You’ve been stubborn, you aren’t sure if you should, you’re starting to think Online Lending might be more than just a fad...Congratulations!

You should be skeptical. As with any new idea, there are plenty of us around who jumped in without looking first. Maybe we didn’t even think it through even a little bit. We dropped some hard earned, cold hard cash and we are still reeling from the first go around. Maybe we need to plan better. Let’s try.
